• Who did you want to be when you were little?

I always wanted to be a musician. I started playing classical guitar when I was 6 years old and from that time on I always wanted to be a musician.

• When and how did you first become interested in music?

It came along with these guitar lessons. I’ve been really fascinated by this instrument. My parents said I should do something beside school. I didn’t want to play football, so they suggested music…I tried it and it really became my first passion.

• Which side of your family does your creativity come from, if any?

My mother played guitar when she was young and I think she can also sing, but she’s not doing it anymore, unfortunately.

• Please describe your songwriting process, when usually inspiration comes to you?

There’s no specific time or situation. But most of the time I get ideas when I take a walk with my dog. Then I try to keep it in mind or I record it with my mobile phone and when I get back at home I just start working on the idea. It always starts with the music and before I begin to write lyrics I try to get the song as far as I can without words, because I really want to get a feeling for it. Then, when the lyrics are done I make a demo recording and play it to the other band members. They add their ideas to the song and then we usually go to the rehearsal room to see how the song feels. In case of my solo project it’s different, because I don’t have any band mates there.

• Would you like/plan to perform your own songs in duet with somebody?

Well, I thought about it quite a few times. But there was no real need for that so far. Maybe, when we have a song that really cries for a duet …

• Did you notice you start a new different music project after 7 years? Where do you see yourself in the next years?

I honestly have no idea. I will make music as long as I can, that’s for sure. But I think, when I’m too old for being on stage I will just write songs for other artists. And, in addition to being a musician I also work as a graphic and video artist. This is my second passion. With Solar Fake I try to combine it, since I’ll have a video backdrop playing clips for each song.

• You have made many coversongs so far. Usually originals are always better and people are disappointed when somebody has made a cover of their favourite song. But covers with your touch sound really brilliant! How do you manage to reach so great result? What is your personal favourite coversong made by you?

My favouite one is «Creep» (Radiohead vs. Solar Fake), but that’s clear, since this is the latest coverversion I’ve made. I think it’s always a good idea to give the original song an own touch, to make them sound like an own song. That’s what I’m trying to do. And I think it’s always a question of choosing the right song. When the original sound very similar to the own band’s sound the result will only be a kind of ‘playing’ a song by another band.

• What song (written by yourself or any other composer) would describe you the best?

I think you’ll get a very intimate picture of me when you look at all of the songs I’ve written. They’re all a piece of my deepest inside and they all belong together, somehow. So I can’t pick out only one song, it would just be one of hundreds of pieces that make the picture.

• If you could wish something to yourself, what it would be?

My wish for Solar Fake is that many people will like the music. And my general wish is a healthier world with less aggression than we have now.
